Last month Bradley and I went on a vacay to Great Exuma, Bahamas. It was a time well spent with the hubby and I’m so thankful we were able to do it. I’m going to share some of what we did, where we stayed, and what I wore while we were there. I’m also going to share some tips and things we wished we would have planned for all on this post.
where we stayed :
Sandals Emerald Bay
While we were in Exuma we stayed at the Sandals Emerald Bay. It’s about a 10 minute car ride from the airport and it is pure bliss. This was our first time ever visiting a Sandals and we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean, the staff was amazing, and not to mention the pool and beach were beautiful. We stayed in the “Beach House Grande Luxe Walkout Club Level Room“.
The room features:
- room service
- concierge service
- in-room bar with select liquors
- airport transfers
- wifi
The all-inclusive resort features:
- 500 acres
- award-winning golf course
- 11 restaurants (all included)
- zero-entry pool with swim-up bar
- water sports
- breakfast, lunch, dinner, anytime snacks, drinks (all included)
One of the most popular spots on the island are the swings. If you look up the hashtag #sandalsemeraldbay your page will be flooded with pictures of these swings. I have to admit that it is beautiful, and Bradley and I did swing on them for 15 minutes.
The golf course was one of the prettiest sites I have every seen. Even if you don’t play golf, grab a golf cart and drive around the course… it’s AMAZING. Most of the holes on the back 9 are on the ocean, so make sure you have A LOT of golf balls if you’re playing! Bradley and I managed to keep some of our golf balls, and honestly we were pretty proud of that.
what we ate :
Y’all this place has the B E S T food. There are 11 restaurants and they are all amazing. We didn’t eat at all 11 of them but we did eat at 9. Some are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while others are only open for dinner. I would have to say my favorite was the Italian restaurant, Il Cielo, it had the most amazing Risotto and we also ate breakfast there almost every day. Bradley’s favorite restaurant was the Sushi restaurant, Soy Sushi Restaurant. We went there every night for appetizers before we went to dinner at another restaurant. Almost every day we ate pizza around 3:00 at the pizza place, Dino’s Pizzeria. Honestly this pizza was amazing. We usually grabbed it and went and ate it on the beach next to the ocean… pretty magical. All of these restaurants are included in your stay, so you can go to one for appetizers, go to another for dinner, and to another for dessert.
tips for your trip
- Get out to the pool early and grab a chair. We usually ate breakfast around 8:30 so we would leave towels on the pool chairs that we wanted on our way to eat. There were always open chairs, but if you wanted a umbrella it was better to grab it early.
- Use bug spray. This is the only negative thing I would say about our whole time in the Bahamas… there were A LOT of sand fleas. You don’t know they are biting you until you find 10 bug bites the next day, and that was super frustrating. Sandals provides each room with bug spray, so take advantage of that.
- Take a Tumbler. Drinks are included in the price of your stay, so you can take a tumbler up to the bar and get the bartenders to fill it up with whatever you want, and it will stay cool.
- Take advantage of the water sports. When you walk out to the beach there is a place that rents out hobbiecat sailboats, paddle boards, kayaks, paddle boats, and more that’s included with the price of your stay. Bradley and I took advantage of the sailboats almost everyday and L O V E D it. We had never done it before and was given a quick lesson and sent out.
If you have ever been to a Sandals leave where you went in the comments below! I’m always looking for new places to visit!
