beach trip + what we packed for our 6 month old

Bradley and I love the beach and we were so excited to take Rowen with us for the first time! Rowen loves the water so we couldn’t wait to see how she did in the sand. SHE LOVED IT! We were a little nervous that the trip was going to be somewhat stressful and chaotic taking a infant, but it couldn’t have gone any better.

When packing for the beach I felt super overwhelmed. I didn’t want to take a ton, but I also didn’t want to get there and wish I would have packed more… We ended up not using some of her clothes, but for the beach gear, we used everything! I’m going to share everything we packed for our almost 7 month old baby, including diapers and wipes, in this post.

beach essentials

beach must haves

beach wagon : We wouldn’t have survived without this. We used this everyday to the pool and beach. This specific beach wagon did pretty good in the sand. Not only was it great to carry all of our stuff, Rowen also slept in this when we were by the pool or on the beach. I bought this pad to make it a little softer for her and she loved it. We had no problems with her sleeping in it.

beach tent/umbrella : You’ll need shade. This umbrella is pretty lightweight and is easy to set up. We chose this over a tent because you can set it up like an umbrella if needed OR lay it down and it acts more like a tent. Rowen stayed under this the whole time.

fan : It was so hot, so this fan was great to have. It never died while we were at the beach, and it was nice to be able to clip it onto different objects, especially when Rowen was sleeping.

sunblock : We lathered Rowen with sunblock every day. We used a makeup brush to apply and that helped ensure we didn’t miss any spot!

pool float : When we went to the pool, Rowen loved being in this float. She could float on her belly or back and it also comes with a sun shade.

travel bouncer : Rowen LOVES to bounce, so this bouncer was great to have. Whenever she wasn’t sleeping or being held she was in this. It comes with a little shade for extra protection, and she loved being able to play while we were at the beach.

sun hat + sunglasses : The beach was so bright! Rowen was constantly squinting so she wore her sunglasses most of the time. I love this sunhat because it has a tie so it doesn’t come off in the wind.

baby powder : I didn’t know but baby powder takes off sand super easily. You can put it in a sock or just put some in your hand and rub it anywhere to get the sand off.
