How I Hung our Gallery Wall By Myself

I asked y’all if I should do a gallery wall behind our dining table and 72% of you said YES! I also asked y’all what kind of gallery wall I should do, and although most people said the single set of 3, it was so close and I decided on the 3 x 3. I wanted to do what I thought would also look best in our future home, and the I think the 3 x 3 would look great in our future entryway.

I’ve been asking Bradley to help me put these up for weeks now, one morning I got tired of waiting and said screw it I’m just going to do it myself. haha If you didn’t already know… I’m THE WORST at putting up picture frames. Where there should only be 1 hole, I usually end up with 4 or 5. Thankfully I found an easy way to put these up, so I only ended up with 1 or 2 extra holes that weren’t needed.

I found these gold 12.5 x 12.5 picture frames at Target for $12 each. The frame is matted to fit a 4 x 6 picture and at first I thought that would be too small, but I think they look great. To hang these frames you’re going to need a tape measure, painters tape, a sharpie, and a level (I bought these velcro strips that came with a picture frame level).

I’m hoping to make this short and sweet. To start out I laid the picture frames on the ground the same way I wanted them on the wall. I decided I wanted to have 2.5 inches between them, left to right, and 2 inches up and down. I measured from edge to edge to get the right spacing. Once I had them all spaced out, I grabbed my painters tape and stretched it out across where the hooks are to hang the frames. I used my sharpie to mark on the tape where the hooks are.

Once I had the taped marked for all three rows, I measured the distance from one of the middle hooks to one of the bottom hooks. This will tell you how many inches between each piece of tape you will need to have to get the spacing right. Once I had those numbers I found the middle of the wall and put the center marking of one of the pieces of tape on that. From there, since you have all of the numbers and markings needed, all you will need to do is hammer in a nail where you have marked on the tape, and make sure everything is level.

It took me about 30-45 minutes to do this myself. I was pleasantly surprised at how great it looks, and how easy it was. Kinda giving myself a pat on the back for this one! I’m excited to finally have more pictures of our family and friends in our home, and I love we were able to incorporate so many in one place. If you decide to try this, let me know how it goes! I would love to see your gallery wall!

As always, all opinions and text are my own.

Stay Sweet!
